A Legacy of Craftsmanship, Design, and Integrity – Since 1950
Errol Reubens Associates traces its origins to a tradition of craftsmanship, material sensitivity, and design integrity that spans over seven decades.
The practice began with Reuben Reubens, a retired First Engineer of the British Royal Navy, who established a furniture and interiors workshop in Karachi prior to the Partition of India. Following his relocation to Ahmedabad in the late 1940s, and after a brief collaboration with E. F. Messerschmidt in Mumbai, he re-established the practice in 1950 — bringing with him a deep commitment to bespoke craftsmanship and precision detailing.
Over the following decades, the studio developed a reputation for high-quality interiors and furniture, working with royal households, textile-industrial families, and prominent commercial clients across Ahmedabad and Bombay. Under the leadership of Errol Reubens Sr., who studied architecture at CEPT University and later worked with Perkins&Will in the United States, the practice expanded from interiors into architecture while maintaining its strong grounding in materiality and craftsmanship.
This evolution led to the establishment of Errol Reubens Interiors Pvt. Ltd. in 1991, focusing on comprehensive interior and architectural solutions across residential and commercial domains.
Representing the third generation of the practice, Errol Reubens Jr. joined the studio in 2007 following his architectural education and later a Master of Architecture with Distinction from the University of Lincoln. Today, the practice continues to evolve through a contemporary approach rooted in spatial experience, contextual sensitivity, and the seamless relationship between architecture and interiors.
Across generations, the studio has remained committed to thoughtful design, precision, and enduring built work shaped by both cultural continuity and contemporary expression.
