A Legacy of Craftsmanship, Design, and Integrity – Since 1950
At Errol Reubens Associates, our story begins with a pioneering spirit, a passion for craftsmanship, and a commitment to timeless design. What started as a modest furniture workshop in Karachi by Reuben Reubens, a retired First Engineer of the British Royal Navy, has evolved over three generations into a respected name in architecture and interior design across India.
In the wake of the 1947 Partition, Reuben Reubens relocated to Ahmedabad, leaving behind his established practice. There, after a short collaboration with EF Messerschmidt in Mumbai, he laid new roots—founding a bespoke furniture and interior design practice in 1950. His work catered to the royal households of India’s princely states, and some of the Millowner’s of Ahmedabad, setting a high bar for craftsmanship and service.
His son, Errol Reubens, Sr., inherited not only his skills but also his dedication. Together, they and also his middle brother Eric Reubens expanded the family business from Ahmedabad to Bombay, working closely with the textile magnates of the time. Their focus on turnkey interiors, precision detailing, and uncompromising quality earned them a reputation as trusted design partners. His eldest brother, Eddy Reubens set up an interior design practice in Philadelphia, USA.
In 1981, Errol Sr., having studied architecture at CEPT, Ahmedabad and worked internationally with Perkins & Will Associates in the USA, branched out to pursue his architectural vision under the name of Messrs Errol Reubens. This led to the founding Errol Reubens Interiors Pvt. Ltd. in 1991 — a firm specializing in bespoke, end-to-end interior solutions for both residential and commercial clients.
The tradition continued with Errol Reubens, Jr., who joined the firm in 2007 after completing his Master of Architecture. Together, father and son have led a wide range of projects across India, blending heritage with innovation and maintaining the family's longstanding commitment to design excellence.
